If you grab with your hands there’s no need to use a shoulder. I you hit with a shoulder and THEN wrap-up… that’s a text book tackle.

True. Tackles are usually harder in Super 14 than in Top 14. But in this case, it’s just a ref decision. Even in the stadium, nobody understood why the ref penalised it.

Tackles like that are made every week in the southern hemisphere, Super 14, club rugby,even at schoolboy level.Tana Umaga is one of the cleanest players ever & a centre to boot, it would NEVER be a criticised in an NZ v AUST game.Tackling is a lost art in Top 14, Tana standsout because so many French backs cant/wont tackle!
